2008 AGM SUMMARY
Attendance was up this year with twenty-five members attending the AGM at Dalton Castle on 17th October. Early in the meeting a proposal that the club provide a subsidy for all meets with overnight stays shown on the 2009 meets list was agreed. The subsidy will be available for one year and reviewed at the 2009 AGM The committee also agreed to consider the possibility of subsidising the Christmas Dinner for 2009. Club President Peter Fleming reported: Summer 2008 proved to be one of the wettest for many years but did not dampen the spirits of our members. Some made the most of opportunities as they arose and others travelled far and wide to places such as Iceland, New Zealand, New Mexico and, of course, our successful annual Alpine Meet, this time in Garmisch, Southern Germany. The winter social evenings have been reasonably well attended at the new venue, Gleaston Village Hall, where the facilities are excellent. This year saw the publication of our occasional Club Journal, which runs to 30 pages. Thanks are due to the Editor and Producer, John Harrison and also to all those members who contributed many interesting articles and photographs. The Committee and all the Officers have quietly worked away over the course of the year to ensure the smooth running and future of our Club. Many thanks are given to all those involved. Hopefully we can look forward to a better summer next year, and for good climbing wherever we choose to go.
Chairman Peter Kelly reported: There have been over 700 visits to the club website this year. The |
