BMSC Annual Dinner 6th December 2008 This event, as in recent years was held at the Crown Hotel, Coniston. Twenty-one members and 3 guests were in attendance. The standard of service and the quality of the food was generally agreed to be of the high standard that we have come to expect at the Crown. This value for money would be difficult to match anywhere else in the Lakes area. Eight litres of house wine together with soft drinks for drivers and other abstainers was provided, free via the agreed Club subsidy.
A toast was given to absent friends and to the future of the Club, and a communication from Felicity Anderson was passed to those present. She is currently working in Kuwait on an extended teaching contract and wished to sent her seasonal greetings to everybody and say that she is looking forward to joining us at the next annual dinner.
No entertainment had been arranged but this did not seem to matter, as everyone mixed and socialised and reminisced or took part in general banter. A good evening was had by all. See you there next December. Peter Fleming Wasdale meet, 22nd February The snow had nearly all disappeared and the temperatures had risen well above freezing point by 22nd Feb, so an early start wasn't necessary for this meet. Pete and Chris Kelly and Roger Mellen went directly from Wasdale head to the top of Kirk Fell then onto Great Gable in intermittent mist. The weather improved considerably for the descent to Sty Head and return to the Wasdale Head Inn. The day was rounded off with tea at the Inn. |
