The film night on 23rd January was quite well attended with 18 members and guests enjoying a screening of extreme skiing, an American film tracing the history of this exhilarating sport. Thanks to Paul Moore for choosing and showing the film.
The slide show on 13th February attracted a similar number. Pete Fleming showed slides of Alpinism in the Saas area of Switzerland and Pete Kelly showed digital images of days out in the Lake District mountains this winter. John Harrison also showed digital images of a wide variety of local scenes and natural beauty with a strong water theme. Thanks to Jim and Betty for organising the drinks and nibbles at both events. |

Coniston Meet – 4th January. Five members, three prospective members and a dog gathered at the Cottage on 4th January. The day was cold and bright and my plan was simple: go up the hill, walk the ridges until you’ve just about had enough and then come down again.
We ascended Red Dell to below the Engine House then crossed to the incline leading up to Birks. Having layered up against the cold we quickly found we needed to de-layer again.
