Langdale evening meet, 10th June. The cloud was low and it spotted rain on the drive to Langdale. In the ODG carpark the spots of rain continued to fall but it was a warm evening and the ground wasn't getting very wet. We kicked our heals for a while, were tempted by the pub, but decided to have a look at Raven Crag. It was a well attended meet considering the conditions. John, Roger, Andy, Paul and myself arrived at the foot of the crag and were greeted by millions if midges; the rock was damp but climbable. We climbed severes Savarnake, Revelation and Centipede. Eventually we retreated to the pub. We all looked a bit blotchy from our midge bites; we sat in the corner scratching, gossiping and drinking beer. Pete Kelly

Club BBQ Those who stayed at the cottage for the BBQ weekend were rewarded with some great weather and managed to get out in the fells walking and climbing on all three days. The day of the BBQ itself - Saturday - was a bit showery but this passed over and allowed the main event to take place alfresco. About 30 people attended and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon and evening eating, drinking and socialising. The catering was once again organised and provided by Margaret and John Harrison and assisted by Pauline Smith, a prospective new member. Other people also helped on the day so a big thanks to them as well, especially John Broadhurst and the many washers up after the event - cheers! John Harrison. |

Meets List 2010 We will be completing the meets list for 2010 in November, so ideas for meets would be welcome. We also need meet co-ordinators; if you have never been a coordinator now is your chance, it is not difficult. For day meets you simply act as a contact point for people going to the meet and then write a few words about your meet for the newsletter. For meets with overnight stays there is accommodation to book; we have plenty of information and contact details for accommodation. Also, we need suggestions for the 2010 Alpine meet. |
