2009 Chairman’s report

Despite another year of rain in the summer months, ending in the damaging floods of November, we had had quite an active year.  A small number of our members having attended most meets and reported on their achievements view the Newsletter, ranging from the Lakes, Yorkshire, Wales and Scotland, and further afield to Costa Blanca and the Swiss Alps.

Others went even further afield although, I hasten to add, not on Club meets, subsidized other wise, to places like Canada, Iceland, China, Tibet, South America and Crete.

At the time of writing (late December) the winter is shaping up for good snow and ice sports in the Lakes and Scotland, providing road conditions allow you to reach your destination.  Do please send in reports of your activities for inclusion in the Newsletter, whether on official meets or not.  Ian Matheson would be pleased to include them, and the members to hear of them.

Thanks must go to Ian for the work he does to provide us with the Newsletter four times a year, and to the Club’s Officers and Committee for all the work they have put in during 2009.

Here’s wishing you all a Happy and Preposterous New Year!

No prizes for spotting the deliberate mistake.

BM&SC Annual Dinner, 5th December 2009

Once again we gathered at the Crown Hotel Coniston.  Numbers were down this year due to various circumstances.  It seems the older you get the more things impinge on your lifestyle, and dates clash.
