Dash back down to lunch stop, spend long night in lodge before  three hour climb to two metre square helipad – yep improvised … Two hours later aircraft arrives and Sean lifted from hill.

 

Twenty four hours later we finish the last of the medical checks in Kathmandu. Thank goodness for “SNOWCARD”. Guys, if you need insurance, check them out. Awesome.

 

So, three days later, early flights to the UK – Sean is OK, making a full recovery. As for me, my head is a mess and that is why I am here at the Club Cottage – a little alone time, a bit of stomping and a bit of paddling. Aim to circumnavigate Coniston Water tomorrow and the lake is high; Dow, Old Man and Wetherlam on Thursday.

Five hours of paddling in heavy rain followed by six hours of walking
