display in the strong air currents adding to the mountain spectacle. It wasn’t the weather to hang around for too long though so after a quick walk along the ridge and a few photos we headed back down for a warm drink in town.

Tuesday . Weather still a bit iffy and the forecast for the mountains was poor so we all opted for a valley walk. Setting off from La Fruitiere we walked up the beautiful Vallee de Lutour to the spectacularly positioned Lac D’ Estom. As we walked the weather improved and the sun came out making what was the last day for Mag and myself here a very pleasant one.

Wednesday.

A lovely morning with not a cloud in the sky, unfortunately Mag and I had to be back in Reading by Thursday evening in order to attend her brother’s wedding on Friday, so it was up early, pack up, bid farewell to the rest of the group and set off back to Calais which we reached at 11:00pm that night after an uneventful drive.

The rest of the team stayed on for another week and got lots more things done in glorious weather – typical! A report detailing what they did is to be included in the new journal.
