His funeral was well attended by members past and present. His coffin was borne by some of his most recent climbing companions, and to the reading of the psalm “I will lift up my eyes to the Hills”. Dave had no close relatives, but his cousins organised a splendid buffet at a nearby hotel. David will be missed by all of us. We will miss his eccentricities, his gleeful chuckle and his home made pots of jam. Our thoughts are with his family and friends as we say “Farewell David”.
It is also my sad task to the record the death of Margaret Broadhurst, who died on the 21st of August 2006. Our condolences and good wishes go to John. The deaths of two former members of the Club are sadly brought to our notice. Jack Grier died in October 2006, and Lenny Flay, at the age of 87, died in December 2006. Peter Fleming |
