Bookings Sec. Des Slavin was not present but sent a report. The cottage had been closed during April, five weekends, for the refurbishment, but only one other weekend had not been booked. A cheque for Impact bookings had arrived too late to be included in this years account.
AOB Peter Fleming proposed a Christmas Dinner menu at the Crown, Coniston, which was agreed. He proposed a donation to LDSAMRA similar to that of last year, but the Chairman pointed out that a request was anticipated from the BMC for cash to buy Wilton Quarry. It was agreed that the Committee should have discretion to give donations up to a total value of £1000. Garmisch Birchergarten in Southern Germany was agreed for the 2008 Alpine Meet. John Harrison has only three articles for the next Journal. About ten will be required to make it viable. If the BBQ went ahead on the original basis of the club providing the food he would be prepared to cook and to shop for supplies, providing there were other helpers. A date change was suggested as the current weekend clashes with the Fell and Rock Cub Coniston Meet. Peter Fleming reported the death of Jill Aldersley, whom some members may have known. She wasn’t a member of this club, but was the first Lady President of the Fell and Rock. The meeting ended with a discussion about an unsightly mess created on the top of Great Gable by people leaving plastic poppies there following the Remembrance Day service.
Dave Kyles was elected to the Committee, and with the exception of John Mossop, all the standing members were re-elected
Winter Socials This year we will be using a new venue for our winter socials. For the last couple of years we have been using the Railway in Dalton, but this is no longer available to us on Friday evenings. We will therefore be having our socials at Gleaston Village Hall; this has been refurbished recently, is warm and comfortable and has a dedicated |
