Club Cottage weekend, 25th-27th August.

Prospective members Mary, Pete, Mhari and Paul and myself stayed in the cottage on the Saturday night. During Saturday evening we went to Coniston Institute where we enjoyed live music, drinking and dancing.

Sunday morning dawned fine, Mary went for a walk over Coniston Old Man and the rest of us drove round to the fell gate and walked up to Dow. The crag was busy, Mhari and Paul climbed Eliminate A, while Pete and Myself climbed Murray's direct. Heartened by our quick ascent of Murray's we set off on Eliminate B and enjoyed the first four pitches of this route which was new ground for us both. The key to the final pitch proved too difficult to unlock so we escaped to easy terrace with promises of returning to finish the route on a better day.

North Wales Meet, 8-9th September.

Members Steve, Anne and Ged along with prospective members Paul, Mhari, Dylan, Mary and Pete and Pete's son Laurie attended the meet. Paul, Mhari and Dylan climbed at Tremadog and Dinas Mot. Pete, Mary and Laurie also climbed in Llanberis Pass.

The weather was nothing like the forecast and ended up cloudy and breezy with occasional spots of rain.  On Saturday Steve, Anne and I managed to do four bolted routes in the upper slate quarries from 4 to 6A+; then an E3 5C in the lower quarries which turned out to be quite bold.  Other members climbed The Cracks (HS) on Dinas Mot plus some routes by the road near the Cromlech lay-by.  On the Sunday we did Superdirect (E1) on Dinas Mot before returning home.
